Scotland will be without Megan Varley for the Guinness Six Nations after she was ruled out of the entire campaign with injury. 

The Bristol Bears back was called up to be part of the extended training squad but it's now been confirmed that she will miss the Six Nations.

Varley was in the squad for the first time after previously playing for England U20s but she won't get a chance to earn a first cap during the championship.

Meanwhile, six players who represented Edinburgh and Glasgow during the Celtic Challenge have been added to the training squad.

Edinburgh captain Sarah Denholm is joined by team-mates Natasha Logan, Hannah Walker and Molly Poolman, while Glasgow Warriors duo Holland Bogan and Nikki Simpson will also join the Scotland squad.

Scotland begin their Six Nations with a trip to Cardiff on March 23. Bryan Easson's side then play France and England at Hive Stadium in Edinburgh before heading to Italy and Ireland for the final two matches of the Six Nations.
